This is one of Bob's favourite pictures of our whole trip! Thanks to Sandra and Clarence's telephoto lens, we were able to get great pictures even though we were about 300 yards away from this leopard. At first he was just laying on the tree and we couldn't see his head but our patience paid off, (once again - the guarantee of a great safari!), and he soon looked our way.
Great big Nile crocodiles were sunning themselves at a bend in the river. Those logs you see? Yeah - not logs at all - those are all crocs!
These are weaver bird nests, hanging in the acacia trees.
The birds enter the nest from the side!
The termites built huge nests all over the place!
The reserve is shared with the Samburu people who herd their goats -
and cattle to grazing and watering spots in the area. The drought has really affected the grass in this area and the cattle were gaunt.
Get ready to hit the road and drive to Lake Nakuru tomorrow! Hang on - it's a really rough road!!

The termite piles are huge. They look like sculptures. Love the cheetah photo, too. Are you ready to get your own?
ReplyDeleteAnd the crocidle photo totally surprised me. I did think they were logs in the river. Was it creepy to see so many in one place?
