While driving from Saburu to Lake Nakuru, we crossed the equator. Of course there was a tourist trap opportunity to see water swirl both ways, have a picture taken and visit a local shop.
Some facts:
- 0 degrees latitude
- the place where the sun rises and sets the quickest
- passes through 14 countries
- elevation here was 6389 feet
- sun passes directly overhead twice a year, at the spring and fall equinox
- it's hard to get a shadow here!
