This is our last day of safari and we head out of the Amboseli Park area tomorrow morning. Today was a hard day as this park has been hard hit by the drought and many animals, especially zebras and wildebeests are dying. We saw more carcasses than any of us liked - the reality is harsh here.
For the past 2 weeks this vehicle has been our home! It had 4000 km on it when we started out and there are nearly 8000 on it now so it's been well used. Every night a group of carwash guys clean and wash it so it's always in great shape for us.
There are lots of safari companies here in Kenya and Tanzania! Everywhere we go there they are!
We have been so lucky to have Chris as our driver and guide. He is careful, considerate and so knowledgeable. We are definitely going to miss his help and he will be a big part of our memories of safari!

Enjoy the next phase! You need one of those trucks on the farm. You can tour the grandkids around the pasture and show them the scenery. ;) Are you saying good-bye to the couple from Lac La Biche?
ReplyDeleteHello from now green alberta,
ReplyDeleteafter more than a week of winter and two significant snows seasonal temperatures have now returned and the world is a wonderfulgreen/brown color.
Thank you for all the pictures and stories on your blog. We have all enjoyed hearing about your adventures immensely!
Bob,
We hope you enjoy every step of your climb. Remember the only way to the summit is one foot in front of the other. (helicopter rides do not count!)
Remember Bernie's pace... slow and steady gets to the summit.
Crystal, we hope you enjoy your cruise. Much of the worlds earliest history takes place around the path you are about to take, including the Hebrew slaves exodus to the promised land. May you hear the voices of the past as you float on this timeful river.
Oh yes, if you have a chance when you travel through Switzerland, please look for Suchard Finesse Chocolate - milk (praline or hazelnut), or any other milk chocolate that they have there. (If you need me to send some money to send it to me I will).
Helayna has wanted to call several times and is not sure why you won't answer if she was allowed to try. Silas has taken several steps and now likes to power slam his sister.
Have a great rest of your trip.
Helayna, Silas, Heather and Jonathan
